Your first month on Mounjaro: week by week

Person writing in a notebook

The 2.5 mg starter month exists to train your body, not to transform you. What each week feels like.

Week 1: the first dose #

Most people feel little after the first injection, perhaps a slightly earlier fullness at meals. A minority get nausea in the first 48 hours. Small, bland meals help until the nausea passes. The most common week-one experience is anticlimax, and this is by design: 2.5 mg is an adjustment dose.

Week 2: appetite shifts #

Portions start shrinking naturally. You reach for snacks less often. Weight change is usually 1 to 2 kg by now, some of this water and gut content, not fat. Do not judge the medicine yet.

Week 3: finding your rhythm #

Your injection routine becomes automatic. Any nausea pattern is now predictable, and you know which foods sit well. Use this week to embed the habits which matter later: protein at each meal, two litres of fluid, a short daily walk.

Week 4: the check-in #

Your monthly check-in reviews weight, side effects and how eating feels, then decides: step up to 5 mg, or hold. Holding is common when loss is steady and comfort is good, the schedule is a ladder, not an escalator.

Setting month-one expectations #

A typical first month is 2 to 4% of body weight. People who expect transformation by week two quit before the medicine reaches working doses. The people with dramatic month-six photos all had quiet first months. The schedule works this way.
