How Foundayo works

Orforglipron is a small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are peptides, fragile proteins needing injection or careful formulation. Orforglipron is built like a conventional drug, so the tablet survives digestion.

The chemistry brings convenience: no fridge, no fasting window and no 30-minute wait before breakfast.

In ATTAIN-1, the largest obesity trial of orforglipron, the highest dose produced an average loss of 11.2% of body weight over 72 weeks, or 12.4% among people who stayed on treatment, alongside diet and activity support. The figure trails Mounjaro and sits ahead of older daily treatments.

Foundayo doses and prices

Treatment begins at 0.8 mg daily. Each step up comes after at least 30 days where tolerated, through 2.5 mg, 5.5 mg, 9 mg and 14.5 mg to a maximum of 17.2 mg. Many people settle where appetite control and comfort balance.

Other trials

  • ATTAIN-2 (obesity with type 2 diabetes). 72 weeks. Mean weight change (efficacy estimand, UK SmPC) was -5.5% with 6 mg, -7.8% with 12 mg and -10.5% with 36 mg versus -2.2% with placebo. 72.8% versus 24.4% lost at least 5% on the top dose, 50.1% versus 7.0% at least 10%. HbA1c fell by 1.3, 1.6 and 1.8 percentage points versus 0.1.
  • ATTAIN-MAINTAIN (maintenance after injections). 376 adults who finished 72 weeks of tirzepatide or semaglutide in SURMOUNT-5 were randomised to orforglipron or placebo for 52 weeks. After tirzepatide, orforglipron kept 74.7% of the earlier weight loss versus 49.2% with placebo. After semaglutide, 79.3% versus 37.6%. Average regain on orforglipron was about 5 kg after tirzepatide and about 1 kg after semaglutide.

Foundayo pill questions

How much does Foundayo cost?

Aero’s treatment prices are not yet confirmed. Before paying, ask for the total price, pack quantity, prescribing fees, dispensing and delivery charges, and follow-up costs. Use your provider’s written quote in the cost planner.

Is Foundayo as strong as Mounjaro?

Not on headline trial averages. The highest Foundayo dose averaged 11.2% loss against 20.9% for Mounjaro 15 mg. Many people trade some potency for a needle-free daily tablet with no food rules. Read Foundayo vs Mounjaro.

Do I take Foundayo with food?

Foundayo can be taken with or without food. The UK authorisation does not require timing meals or water around the dose. Follow your prescription and check the MHRA’s information alongside the leaflet supplied with your tablets.

Can I switch from an injection to Foundayo?

A switch requires an individual prescribing decision. Your current medicine, recent doses, side effects and medical history all matter. Ask your prescriber to confirm the stopping and starting instructions; do not combine treatments or convert doses yourself.
